Alison Lester Yakanarra Book Launch

Inaugural Children's Laureate Alison Lester will visit ACT for a three day Laureate tour to launch picture books The Yakanarra Dogs–Yakanarrajangka Kunyarrwarnti and A Yakanarra Day–Wangki Yakanarrajangka written and illustrated by junior and senior students of Yakanarra Community School.

Alison visited Yakanarra Community School in 2012 as Children’s Laureate working with students to create stories and illustrations about ‘their place’. Alison Lester and author Jane Godwin have since published these stories in collaboration with the Indigenous Literacy Foundation in English and Walmajarri language (translations by Mary Vanbee and Jessie Moora).
