10 Children's Laureates at the #BolognaBookFair Summit

The Australian Children's Literature Alliance were honoured to be part of the planning team for the Second International Children's Laureate Summit at Bologna Children's Book Fair 2015.

For the public Summit event 10 Laureates performed in celebration of the power of story and reading. The event was Chaired by the esteemed Julia Eccleshare, a British journalist and writer on the subject of children's books and Children's Books editor for The Guardian newspaper for more than ten years.

The event opened and closed with spoken word poetry performances by Welsh Children's Laureates, Aneirin Karadog and Martin Daws, leaving the audience in no doubt that poetry is alive and kicking!

The panel were excited to be joined at the last minute by Jan Paul Schutten, the first non-fiction Children's Laureate from Holland, who had only been awarded the position the week before the Fair.

The Laureates are dedicated to continuing to work together to form a powerful International Laureate Network to build awareness of the power of the position to change the lives of young people.
